Four years of anticipation for the centerpiece of Zeitwinkel.

When we embarked on the adventure of creating our own watches, it was important for us to build truly authentic products. We were not content with just encasing the mass-produced standard movements used in many high-priced watches. We felt that the future owners of a Zeitwinkel watch should not be content with them either.

In the end, it took us four long years to create the Zeitwinkel family of in-house movements. Very few of our friends understood why we would start a watch company and accept that we would not sell a single watch for four long years. Well, it just felt right not to make any compromises.

The Zeitwinkel ZW0102 caliber

The Zeitwinkel caliber ZW 0102 is a mechanical manufacture movement with automatic winding. Developed by Zeitwinkel especially for its watches, it is manufactured in small quantities in the Jura Mountains (Switzerland) with high precision machinery and meticulous diligence.

The ZW0102 is a robust, accurate, and versatile basic movement that can be equipped either with a sweep or a small second and has a relatively large date display as an option. The running time is 72 hours.

All plates and bridges are made of German silver, chamfered and hand-decorated. The robust three-quarter plate plays a significant role in the mechanical stability of the movement. German silver is noticeably harder than the brass that is usually used and requires the greatest precision in its manufacture and decoration. After thorough quality inspection and five-stage calibration, it is installed in the housing by our watchmakers and subjected to a running test that lasts several days.

The Zeitwinkel ZW0103 date caliber

The Zeitwinkel caliber ZW 0103 a mechanical manufacture movement with automatic winding and a semi-integrated complication for the date display. Developed by Zeitwinkel especially for our model 273°, it is manufactured in small quantities in the Jura Mountains (Switzerland) with high precision machinery and the meticulous diligence.

Based on our Zeitwinkel caliber ZW 0102, we have added a self-developed complication for displaying the remaining running time and the date. The noticeable feature is the display of the date in large numerals at the 11 o' clock position for which we have received a patent. The running time of the mechanism is 72 hours.

All plates and bridges of the mechanism, as well as of the semi-integrated complication, are made of German silver, chamfered and hand-decorated. The robust three-quarter plate that plays a signifigant role in the mechanical stability of the movement. German silver is noticeably harder than the brass that is usually used and requires the greatest precision in its manufacture and ornamentation.

After thorough quality inspection and five-stage calibration, it is installed in the housing by our watchmakers and subjected to a running test that lasts several days.

See our movement in action

We have created an animated film showing the main functions of a high quality mechanical movement.

Using our Zeitwinkel base caliber ZW0102 as an example, the film explains all essential components and how they interact to precisely display the time.
